Mr. and Mrs. Baker from Anderson, S.C.

For more than 10 years, Mr. and Mrs. Baker have been traveling from Anderson, S.C. to the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville to help us recycle the thousands of pop tabs, cans and aluminum pans we receive every year. Every couple of months the couple comes to our House and sorts tons of tabs by hand and organizes them for drop off at a local recycling center. Their generosity and support is felt throughout the whole House and everyone knows their names around here! Today, the Bakers sorted and transported over 1,400 pounds of pop tabs, cans and aluminum pans. Through their efforts and the support of our tab collectors in the community we raised over $900 for the House! It is through individuals like The Bakers we are able to serve our families. Thank you so much!

GHS Children’s Hospital Family Advisory Council Cooks Dinner

The Greenville Health System Children’s Hospital Family Advisory Council recently cooked dinner for our families. The Family Advisory Council provides a forum for family members and employees to participate in hospital decision-making and help educate members about family-centered care. They came to the House and cooked a healthy meal of grilled chicken (using our new grill), salad, corn on the cob, fruit, bread and strawberry shortcake. For more information about the Family Advisory Council at the Children’s Hospital, check out their website: www.ghschildrens.org/family_advisory_council

Employees from Aimco, a property management company with an office in Greenville, stopped by the House today to present a check from their fundraiser. For the second year in a row, employees put on a hot dog and baked goods sale for the Ronald McDonald House. They sold 50 hot dogs last week and raised over $400! We are so appreciative of their thoughtfulness and creative efforts to raise money for our families. Thank you so much!

BMW Charity Pro-Am Wives and Children Visit RMH

BMW Charity Pro-Am Wives and Children Visit RMH

We were thrilled to have the BMW Charity Pro-Am golfers’ wives and children stop by our House this week for a tour and lunch. The women had the opportunity to see how the tournament gives back to its community. The Ronald McDonald House has been a charity of choice for the BMW Charity Pro-Am for the past ten years. We receive a portion of the proceeds from the tournament, which we use to provide a home for our families. The wives and children received a special visit from Ronald! The children loved the playroom and were even able to see a few of Ronald’s magic tricks. After a tour of the House we all enjoyed some lunch and of course some Happy Meals!

Hands on Greenville Day 2014!

Hands on Greenville Day 2014!

HOG DAY Perfect for Annual Volunteering

The weather worked in everyone’s favor this past weekend for the annual Hands on Greenville Day! This day is extremely helpful to so many organizations around the upstate to include our Ronald McDonald House.  We would like to thank Global Lending Services for volunteering their time and efforts in cleaning up our outdoor areas.  This outdoor space surrounding our parking areas definitely needed some TLC.  It looks amazing and we cannot thank you enough.  Check out their entire album from our Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas Facebook page.
