Saturday, March 12th we will be teaming up with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits to enjoy some professional hockey in downtown Greenville, while also raising money for the house! That evening the Swamp Rabbits will take on the Florida Everblades, with the puck dropping at 7 pm. Join us beginning at 6:30 pm to enjoy a beverage and appetizer on us. These games are always a blast and we even have a section blocked off for Red Shoe Society Members and friends. So come, sit back, relax and enjoy the fastest sport on earth! Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas Refreshes 12th Annual Ronald Cup Golf Tournament and Welcomes Celebrities to Greenville

RCCC_Social_Media_Art_612px_BGREENVILLE, S.C. (Feb. 23, 2016) – Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas is pleased to present its 12th Annual Ronald Cup Celebrity Classic will be held on Sunday, April 24th and Monday, April 25th at Green Valley Country Club.

Celebrities expected at the 12th Annual Ronald Cup Celebrity Classic are as follows:
· Adam Humphries: NFL Wide Receiver, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – former Clemson Tiger
· Terance Mathis: Former NFL Pro Bowl Wide Receiver, Atlanta Falcons – 13 year NFL Career
· Jose Alvarez: Former MLB Pitcher, Atlanta Braves
· Mark Bryan: Lead Guitarist, Hootie & the Blowfish
· Rick Seratte: Keyboard/Vocalist, Whitesnake – known for hit song “Here I Go Again”
· Thad Daber: Professional Golfer, 4-Time World One Club Champion, Guinness World Record Holder, Lowest Round of Golf using only One Club
· Blake Sims: Former Alabama Crimson Tide Starting Quarterback

“The Ronald Cup has always been a very successful fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House,” said Joe White, Ronald Cup Committee Member. “We saw a wonderful opportunity to add a new dimension by getting charitable sports figures and celebrities to join our sponsors as they all raise money for the House. Our goal is to offer a premiere member-guest experience for the attendees so they will leave feeling like they had a great day on the course, while also giving back to the worthy cause.”

The golf tournament begins with a Pairings Party the evening of Sunday, April 24th. Attendees are invited to a heavy hors d’oeuvres cocktail party at Green Valley Country Club looking over the scenic mountains of the upstate. The party will feature the sounds of famed, jazz performer Joe Gransden from Atlanta, Ga. Attendees will also have a chance to browse a selection of silent auction items, mix and mingle with the celebrities and finally bid for a chance to have the celebrity play as a the “Fifth Man” on their golf team the next morning. The event kicks off Monday morning at Green Valley with 18 spectacular holes of golf situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and meandering through the natural terrain of the Reedy River Valley. To finish off a great day on the course, golfers are invited to an awards luncheon in the country club.

“Since its inception, all of the proceeds raised from the Ronald Cup go directly back to the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville. This year is no different, other than the fact that we are inviting celebrities to come and play a great round of golf with our attendees,” said Marti Spencer, Executive Director/CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas. We are a local charity with a global impact keeping families close to their critically ill or injured children since 1989. The Red Shoe Society is a young professional group with a philanthropic mission: to engage, empower and inspire young professionals to participate in philanthropic and leadership endeavors and build awareness of Ronald McDonald House Charities. Members of RSS plan, manage, and execute events and volunteer activities to benefit Ronald McDonald Charities.

The Red Shoe Society is a great way to become more involved in your community. Join RSS and their mission in helping sick children and their families! Yearly membership dues are $89 ($139 for couples), which represents the cost of one family’s stay at the Ronald McDonald House. Just by joining, you have already helped one family in need!

Interested in joining RSS? The following is information about the different committees available for RSS members.

  • Social Committee – Assist with planning social gatherings for RSS members and friends. Also assist with planning and organizing the Greenville Royale, RSS’s signature fundraising event.
  • Volunteer Committee – Assist with planning service projects to benefit RMHCC programs through city events and House events.
  • Development Committee – Assist with fundraising and sharing the mission of RMHCC.
  • Membership Committee – Assist with recruiting new RSS members and maintain relationships with current members.

Welcome Kristi Hall Ayala, RMHC’s New Director of Operations


Kristi HallGREENVILLE, S.C.  (Jan. 21, 2016) – Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas (RMHCC) is pleased to welcome Kristi Hall Ayala as their new Director of Operations. Ayala will be responsible for the day to day operations of running the House, facility maintenance and most importantly, managing all aspects of House residents and their stay.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kristi to our team,” said Marti Spencer, CEO and Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas. “Providing the highest level of hospitality for our families is our main priority. We aim to make their stay comfortable, so they can solely focus on the healing of their child. Kristi’s background in hospitality fits perfectly with our mission of keeping families close during critical moments.”

“I am honored to play an integral role at Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas. We never know when accidents or tragedy will come, and we hope that it never does, but to know that the House provides comfort brings peace to my heart,” said Ayala. “It is a very fulfilling opportunity for me to be afforded the ability to participate in helping to offer a sanctuary of hope and encouragement for families during life’s most challenging moments.”

Kristi comes from a background of public relations and customer service.  She was born in Los Angeles, Ca. and grew up in the family of the Fred Hall Boat Shows. Kristi then had her own real estate business for 13 years, and a luxury beachfront property management business. She understands the hospitality field and the importance of providing a high level of customer service.

Kristi calls Greenville home with her husband of 32 years. They have a 26 year old son who is a doctor at MUSC in Charleston. In her down time she enjoys yoga, dancing, gardening and watching romantic movies.  Additionally, Kristi is fluent in Spanish. She currently sits as President of the Board of Directors for the Bridges Crossing Home Owners Association in Simpsonville.

Donation of Mattresses

Ronald McDonald House Receives Large Donation of Mattresses from Park Place Corporation

A new year, a new bed! Park Place Corporation, a bedding producer in Greenville, has generously donated 13 mattresses to the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville, South Carolina. On Friday, the beds were unloaded by the Grounds Guys of Southern Greenville into the House and placed in the guests’ bedrooms.

The Ronald McDonald House is a “Home Away from Home” for families with critically ill or injured children to stay while their child is being treated in the hospital.

Grant Helps Keep Families Close During Season of Giving

Wells_Fargo_4cGREENVILLE, S.C.  (Nov. 17, 2015) – Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas recently received a $2,000 grant from Wells Fargo. The grant will help support our mission of providing a unique home setting that provides a home for families and their children during a very unpredictable time in their lives. The Ronald McDonald House keeps families together, resulting in positive health outcomes for critically ill and injured children.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas is currently in its Season of Giving campaign from November through December, where it is asking the community to help keep families close by encouraging online donations through The old adage “home is where the heart is” particularly strikes true for families who spend the holiday season at pediatric medical facilities. Support given by organizations, such as Wells Fargo, allows families to be near their children during critical moments.

“Togetherness is the greatest gift you can give families with a critically-ill or injured child,” said Marti Spencer, Executive Director/CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas. It is through companies like Wells Fargo and their giving spirit we are able to continue to serve 300 families each year from the Upstate of South Carolina, our six surrounding states and beyond our country’s borders.”

In 2014, Wells Fargo invested $281.2 million in nonprofit organizations and schools across the country. In South Carolina alone last year, we made 617 grants totaling $3.39 million to local nonprofit organizations and schools that make a huge difference in communities across the state. Over the last five we years, Wells Fargo has donated nearly $18.5 million to nonprofit organizations in South Carolina, and since 2005, we have invested over $32 million in nonprofit organizations across the state.
