Thank You, Volunteers

Last year, we served over 700 families, and as a small team, we couldn’t have done it alone.

Our incredible volunteers make it possible for us to transform families’ lives. Without your generosity and passion for helping others, our house wouldn’t feel quite as much like a home.

Thank you, volunteers, for all that you do!

They've really talked to us, the volunteers. You know, I've learned something from here. I've never seen this anywhere where volunteers come in and make us snacks. They make us dinner. It has really been family here.
The Ngobi Family from Uganda
Each night we have dinner, and that makes me feel so grateful. I can feel overwhelmed because of his surgeries, treatments, therapies, and everything. There are days when I don't have enough energy to prepare or cook anything, so having dinner here makes me feel so happy.
The Arriola Borbon Family from Mexico
Volunteering here is probably the best thing that’s happened to me. This place is filled with the most joyful, resilient children and families. You have to come and experience it for yourself.

We Love Our Volunteers

Former professional chef Susan Rink has been volunteering at RMHC for many years alongside her friend Pat and her daughter, preparing home-cooked meals for families staying at the House. Once a month, the Lovin' from the Oven team fills our kitchen with warmth, laughter, and often a few special helpers — including Susan's grandson — making each meal feel like a true family affair. Their creative menus are thoughtfully planned with our youngest guests in mind, bringing comfort and joy to children and caregivers alike. We know we can always count on Susan and her team to show up with compassion, dedication and a deep understanding of our mission, making a meaningful difference for the families we serve.

Julia has been volunteering at the House for eight years and has never slowed down in her service. With a heart of gold and true passion for our mission, Julia shows kindness and dedication across our programs. Julia is found at the House twice a month or, even more frequently, at our Family Room where she provides a dependable shoulder to lean on for families and fellow volunteers alike. As our Family Room Manager’s right hand woman, she plays a key role in providing families with meals and comfort during difficult times.

Todd has been a dedicated volunteer at the House, generously giving his time two days each week and always finding ways to lend a hand. Whether he's tackling routine tasks or taking on special projects, Todd consistently goes above and beyond to support our mission. His willingness to step in wherever he's needed helps lighten the load for both staff and fellow volunteers, and his dependable, can-do attitude makes a lasting impact on everyone at the House. We are grateful for Todd's dedication and the many ways he helps make RMHC a welcoming place for the families we serve.

The White Family stayed at RMHC in 2018 while their newborn daughter, Wiley, received medical care in the NICU. Now, every June, Wiley and the White Family return to the House to prepare a meal in honor of the now eight-year-old's birthday.
