Nine Years of Giving: The Giver Foundation’s Lasting Impact on RMHC

For nearly a decade, The Giver Foundation has helped bring comfort and joy to families staying at our House. Over the past nine years, founder Tradd Hodge’s desire to help our families has grown into a powerful partnership that continues to make a meaningful difference for families in need at RMHC.

Tradd was just five years old when he told his mom he wanted to help children in hospitals. Together, they began collecting toys from friends and family, filling their living room with donations before delivering them to local children’s hospitals. Today, The Giver Foundation has grown into an official nonprofit, raising more than $100,000 and providing support to ten organizations each year.

Nine years ago, Tradd was looking to expand his program beyond his partnership with the children’s hospitals in Greenville. Hospital staff shared our House’s need with Tradd, recognizing the important role it plays in supporting families. Tradd quickly saw how the mission aligned with his own.

The Giver Foundation provides wish list items and other much-needed supplies that help keep our House and programs stocked for families. Every donation, whether it’s a comfort item, household essential, or activity for children, helps ease the burden families experience while their child receives medical care. 

As the Giver Foundation has grown, so has its impact. What started as a single day of giving has expanded into a months-long effort that delivers thousands of dollars in donations to organizations across South Carolina. Yet, despite that growth, Tradd says the partnership with RMHC remains one he looks forward to every year.

“Ronald McDonald House is such a bright, welcoming place,” Tradd shared. “Everybody is happy, excited, and friendly. It’s always so fun to work with them.”

Looking ahead, both organizations will continue to build on this longstanding relationship, ensuring that more families receive the care, comfort, and support they deserve during some of life’s most difficult moments.
