The Flores- Christensen Family Story

 In Family Stories

Parents Kzeia and Alex have faced an uphill battle in seeking treatment for their son, Andres, who has been living with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC), a condition that affects his joints and muscles. Their journey has taken them from Mexico to the United Kingdom, and finally to Shriner’s Hospital in Greenville, SC, where Andres is finally receiving the care he needs.

Upon arriving at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas (RMHCC), the family felt an overwhelming sense of relief. They found themselves in a place where they could truly relax, surrounded by support. This is their second time staying with RMHC, and they deeply appreciate the comfort and familiarity it offers. The sense of community amongst the RMHC family has served as an invaluable source of strength, as they interact with other families facing similar medical challenges. Seeing children at various stages of their own treatment has inspired hope for Andres and his future.

At just 3 years old, Andres affectionately calls RMHC “Happy House.” He loves spending time with other children who look and act like him, and he finds joy in the activities provided, like rock painting with other families and volunteers, which help brighten his days. Though their lives have been filled with challenges, RMHC has been a steady and comforting constant. It has become a true home away from home, offering the family the care and resources they need during this difficult time.
