Learning, Growing, Giving Back: Meet Our RMHC Interns
This summer, we’re proud to host a talented group of interns from both local high schools and universities through our ongoing Ronald McDonald House Charities internship program. The program provides students with hands-on experience in nonprofit work across departments like marketing, communications, development, and grant writing.
Kylie Tutterow, Marketing & Communications Intern
Senior, Clemson University
Meet Kylie, a rising senior at Clemson University, double majoring in Political Science and Communications! At Clemson, she writes for Clemson’s student newspaper, The Tiger, and recently spent a semester studying in Washington, D.C.
Kylie’s main role at RMHC is to help create social media content and develop marketing materials to promote their mission. She chose to intern at the RMHC because she admires the direct impact they have on many families and wanted to learn more about how marketing efforts help support their work. Kylie loves to be around the chatter and the noise that comes with the kids who stay in the house, and enjoys interacting with the volunteers who assist at the House, appreciating how they make her days more eventful.
Marett Cole, Grant Writing Intern
Junior, Washington and Lee University
Meet Marett, a rising junior at Washington and Lee University, where she majors in Politics with minors in Poverty & Human Capability and Law, Justice, & Society.
At RMHC, she works on preparing, submitting, and managing grant proposals to foundations and corporate sources. Marett also has a special connection to the House; when she was younger, she battled a rare type of cancer and required treatment only found in New York. This experience inspired Marett to intern at the House as a way to give back to the organization that helped her family with the support and accommodation that they needed. While working at the House, she loves to bake cookies and engage with the other volunteers who come in every day.
Rebecca Deets, Communications & Development Intern
Senior, Greer Middle College Charter High School
Meet Rebecca, a rising senior at Greer Middle College Charter High School interning with us year round for her Senior Capstone Program.
Rebecca is the jack of all trades around the House, interning with all aspects of the House. Rebecca chose to intern at RMHC to learn more about the business and communications aspects of non-profit organizations. She also has a personal connection to the organization; as a child, she stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago to get treatment for a condition that she has called Eosinophilic esophagitis. This internship allows her the opportunity to give back to the RMHC community that once supported her and her family. Rebecca loves hanging out with the children who stay at the House and getting to know them personally.
Ali Phyfer, Rotational Intern
Senior, Christ Church Episcopal School
Meet Ali, a rising senior interning with us through the Christ Church Episcopal School Junior Internship Program. Through this internship, she hopes to gain hands-on experience and deepen her understanding of how nonprofit organizations work. The opportunity to intern at RMHC means a lot to Ali because she’s always had a passion for helping others and has wanted to be part of an organization that makes a meaningful impact. The mission of RMHC to keep families together during some of their most difficult times truly inspires her, and she’s so excited to contribute in any way she can.
Tristan Jain, Rotational Intern
Senior, Christ Church Episcopal School
Meet Tristan, a rising senior interning with us through the Christ Church Episcopal School Junior Internship Program. Through this internship Tristan hopes to gain knowledge about how nonprofits work, and educate himself about the business aspect. One of Tristan’s personal goals is to always be able to consistently help people; whether that be through donations or just simply being there for someone in need. Because of this, Tristan is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with an organization like RMHC, which has given him the opportunity to provide meaningful support to others.
