Welcoming Our Spring Interns
The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas is proud to welcome our spring 2026 intern cohort to our House. Comprised of students from local universities and high schools, our internship program gives students the ability to reach beyond the classroom, and dive into the world of non-profits. Our hands-on program aims to provide students with the opportunities to experience all facets of non-profit leadership, including communications, development, marketing, grant writing and more.
Emily Smith, Marketing and Communications
Meet Emily Smith, a junior at Clemson University double majoring in marketing and sports management and minoring in sports communication. Emily enjoys spending time with her rescue cat, Kiwi and her fish,Dodge. Emily loves to travel whenever possible, and she even got the chance to go to Washington D.C. over winter break.
Emily sought out RMHC because of her desire to learn about nonprofits, and her goal to work for one after graduation. Her goal is to eventually work in Community Partnerships in professional sports, and incite a passion in young girls in the field.
Emily loves the environment that the staff and volunteers have cultivated. Upon arrival, she found it super inviting, and she is looking forward to building relationships with everyone at the House.
Lilly Hughes, Event Planning and Development Intern
Meet Lilly Hughes, a junior at Clemson University studying in tourism and event management. Lilly is unique in her love for the outdoors — and she is our only left-handed intern this semester.
Lilly wanted to work at RMHC because of her strong passion for meaningful community impact. Lilly loves that the work she does at RMHC has a real, tangible effect on people’s lives, and it allows her to gain hands-on event planning experience. Lilly wants to work in corporate event planning, incorporating her interests in marketing and business strategy into her efforts. She hopes to foster opportunities to bring people together where everyone feels valued, happy and supported.
Lilly really appreciates the community that has been created in the House, specifically between the staff and the families. She said this connection reflects the supportive and compassionate environment that RMHC aims to cultivate — and she can’t wait to be a part of it.
Bryce Everett, Marketing Intern
Meet Bryce Everett, a junior marketing major at Clemson University. Bryce is the middle child of five kids, and has been water skiing and snow skiing since she was two years old.
Bryce wanted to work at RMHC because of her admiration of the organization and its purpose. She knew this internship would be the perfect fit for her the second she heard about the opportunity. Bryce would love to one day work in brand marketing to contribute to brands in a meaningful way.
Bryce loves the people she works alongside at RMHC. She loves how happy and personable everyone is, and she said it’s clear how excited everyone is to support our mission.
Rebecca Deets, Marketing and Communications Intern
Meet Rebecca Deets, a senior at Greer Middle College Charter High School. Rebecca is a year-round intern, and is finishing up her Senior Capstone Project with us this spring. Rebecca loves to travel, so much so that when she was 25 weeks old she had already been to 26 U.S. states.
Rebecca chose RMHC because of her desire to get introduced to the world of business, especially in regard to non-profit organizations. She chose RMHC specifically because of her personal connection to their mission —when she was a child, Rebecca stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago to get treated for Eosinophilic Esophagitis. Having this internship allows her the opportunity to give back to the community that gave her so much as a child.
Rebecca loves the environment of the House and the positive culture of the community within. She has enjoyed getting to know everyone in the House, and is so excited to finish her final semester strong!
