Where magic meets mission: ADPi connects fairytale to reality

 In Uncategorized

For many years, the Eta Phi chapter of Alpha Delta Pi has been a dedicated partner of the House. Whether serving meals, organizing fundraisers or volunteering their time, members consistently find ways to support our families. Recently, their commitment has taken on a little extra magic through the Pi Princess Program.

The Pi Princess Program directly connects members of Furman University Alpha Delta Pi to families staying in the House. Once a month, students visit dressed as beloved princess characters, connecting with children and their families through storytime, coloring and play. While the program is one of the chapter’s newest initiatives, it has quickly shaped the chapter’s meaningful volunteering experience and contributions to the House.

“This program is the reason I fell in love with RMHC and has now become one of the driving forces between our relationship and the house,” Evie Crumrine, former Alpha Delta Pi director of philanthropy, said. “These visits are unique; they allow children and families to escape whatever reality they’re facing and simply just create moments of magic together.”

Crumrine was at the heart of launching the Pi Princess Program, bringing the idea to life alongside her fellow Alpha Delta Pi sisters. Thanks to their creativity and dedication, families now get to spend time with princesses like Cinderella, Belle, Anna, Elsa and Rapunzel. In collaboration with Clemson ADPi, the princesses visit to share stories, craft and engage in play with children staying at the House.

For families navigating difficult medical journeys, these visits offer a moment of joy and escape. While the House strives to provide a comforting home away from home, the Pi Princess Program brings something a little different — a chance for children to step into a magical world, even if just for an afternoon.

“Many of our sisters have come to have relationships with these families — they know their stories, names, and faces,” Crumrine added. “Although our sisters may always be the ‘princesses’ to the kids, this type of service has allowed us to break down barriers and create personable, hands on service that truly allows us to understand the people we are serving.”

Though ADPi often contributes to the House through donations and guest chef shifts, this experience has allowed members to further establish personal relationships and connection with the children and families staying at the House.

In addition to volunteering their time, Alpha Delta Pi continues to support the House through fundraising and philanthropy. Over the 2025 academic school year, Furman ADPi donated $4,130 to our House, helping to provide for families in the House. Through events such as Dippin for a Difference, Pups & Poptabs, Get Charmed by RMHC, and Pie an ADPi the group was able to meaningfully fundraise and help support our mission.

The Eta Phi chapter also won $500 to donate to the House through a variety of competitions at Sigma Chi’s annual Derby Days philanthropy week.

ADPi’s meaningful contributions to the House help exemplify what it means to be a true mission partner at RMHC. Their volunteerism, philanthropy and dedication to our mission truly mean the world to our families and community.
